Amazon App Store Wont Install Large Apps

Hi everyone, I post here looking for some help.

I try to take advantage of the amazon app store has, but recently I have been unable to download large files only. So far i've tried various combinations of the following:

-uninstall screen dimmer
-clear data, and catch
-download on wifi or 4g
-uninstall and reinstall amazon app store
-restart phone
-check unknown sources download box
-uncheck both google settings and regular settings verify app boxes
-max out screen brightness
-log on (and play around in) the regular amazon app
-find the android.venzia.amazon (or whatever the full name is) folder and manually install the apks (i delete the old apks when they dont work)

regardless, everytime it gets stuck on "install" or "install pending" for a few minutes, then just stops and the old "install" box shows up again

hoping someone can help me out me out.

i have an unrooted (i'm not going to root) verizon galaxy note 2, that was just updated to kit kat. i have a few old amazon apps that are stored on the SD card.

last resort might be to just hold out, and once i finish playing all my amazon games, delete everything i downloaded from amazon and try again.
