I recently signed up for Google Voice, solely to use for it's voicemail features. Everything seems to be working fine, voicemails come in through the Google Voice app, but they do not show up in Hangouts which seems to be how it should work, and would be the way I would prefer.
I found these instructions from Google:
"
Download the latest version of the Hangouts app.
Open the Hangouts app. When you open the Hangouts app, you'll see a message asking if you'd like to turn on text messages and voicemail in the Hangouts app.
Touch Turn it on. If you don't see the message and want to turn on text messages and voicemail, touch your profile photo > touch Settings > tick the box next to "Messages: Show SMS & voicemail in Hangouts".
"
I never got the message asking if I'd like to turn on texts message and voicemail in Hangouts, although I do have it setup to do my SMS. Also, under settings I simply do not see "Messages: Show SMS & voicemail in Hangouts". I am puzzled.
:/
