Can I use a backup App instead of Kies?

Backup App instead of Kies

Hi guys

I am having no end of trouble using Kies to backup as it keeps failing to connect even though I know the USB cable works (and I have tried many).

So, I'm looking for an app to use instead of Kies that doesn't require root access. Would rather not pay but am happy to for that "perfect" app.

Any suggestions?

There are different things to back up - contacts, apps, files, etc. See [GUIDE] Backing up an Android Phone for links to apps to back up the various things you can't just drag to the computer (like files).
