Why aren't my apps working when connected to WiFi?

Apps Not Working When Connected to WiFi

When I tried opening up one of my apps at work today, the app would not work and told me there was a communication error. I tried it with my Facebook app, my banking app, a calorie-counting app, and even with a basic search from my Google search bar. All of them said that there was a communication error and they couldn't update. I assumed it was an issue with WiFi, but everyone else in my office who has their phone connected isn't having any issues.

I have tried rebooting my phone, taking out the battery to make it reset, forgetting the WiFi and reconnecting, and even checked for system updates. Nothing is working. Is there another solution I can try? This has never been an issue before. It just started this morning at work, and there is not currently another WiFi network I can test it out on.

Welcome to Android Central! Are other people accessing apps like that? If not, then it could be some kind of work firewall that blocks traffic to certain sites.
