So I have an Optimus. Please don't stop reading, I'm not asking how to make it work, I've got it working. But a post here got me thinking:

He mentioned controlling your wii with your phone, and i said it wouldn't be possible since our phones don't have infrared. BUT... We can get limited control of a wii controller with the phone, and it got me to wondering if a combination of wiimote and another app would make a universal remote, if we could get control of the infrared on the wii controller. It seems a little far fetched, and possibly a little pointless, but I thought it could be useful for say, hypothetically of course, playing with your teachers projector. And, non-hypothetically, for watching legit television.
