Please recomend a free sms recovery program

I'm not savvy at all. I got a new LG4 7 months ago. Apparently it was set to delete old text messages. My former construction business partner emptied the bank account (Felony theft) and left me broke. I need to prove some of his misrepresentations made in text messages about 6 months ago, but they are gone. I take a lot of photos so are they likely written over? Can anyone please recommend a free data recovery program and any other advice that may help? (I did contact T-Mobile and they don't save text content)

Your SMS messages are stored in a database. When a message is deleted, maybe it is physically removed from the database, maybe it is just marked as "deleted" in the database. You can try an SMS backup program and see what it can pull out of the database. I use "sms backup and restore" by Carbonite.
