Been searching the interwebs but can't seem to find a solid answer...

Are stock ROOTED devices (Nexus 6 in particular) working with the Pioneer 4100NEX (or similar)? Can't seem to find anyone confirming whether being ROOTED makes a difference or not...

Thanks for the reply.

I'm all set to get mine installed today. Was in Best Buy yesterday messing around with one of the displays and couldn't get it to work. Probably wasn't set up correctly or something...

I can tell you that rooted running stock is fine. In fact, rooted running a custom ROM, I'm running CM12 with Lollipop on my LG G3, seems to work. It appears the only issue is if you have a custom kernel. I am running Chroma ROM with lean kernel on my Nexus 6 currently and it doesn't work with Android Auto, I hope this helps you.

I got it all hooked up - other then an install issue (popping sound when starting the car) everything is working great!
