Is there a special cable needed for the pioneer head units or does it use a regular cable?

For Android Auto? You just need a USB cable, like the one you use for charging and syncing your phone.

Try to take a good one though - I had troubles with a long, cheap USB cable.

Have not had installed yet. The guy at the store was saying that I need a special cable for Android auto to work. For $100.00. Didn't think that was correct.

Absolutely not correct. Any normal data cable — not power-only — should work just fine.

Just make sure they run it from USB2. (USB1 is for Apple CarPlay.)

A good cable came with my 4100-NEX, in the box.

At $100 installer seems to be out for the money.
