Which UConnect (Radio) models incompatible with Android Auto?

Hoping someone knows which UConnect models are incompatible with AA? Tried plugging in my Nexus 6 USB cable (came with the Nexus 6) running stock Marshmallow (Android 6.0) to a 2016 Cherokee and a (basic model) UConnect 5.0. Problem is I can't get past "Connect your phone to your car". Doubt it's a cable issue since I see it's charging ok from the Cherokee's USB port...AA just won't recognize the vehicle. A dealer told me any UConnect 5.0 Radio (or above) should work but not so far. I see there is a firmware update from stock software version which is currently 09.00.44.00 so the question is: Is this too basic a UConnect radio and unsupported, do I need a firmware update or is Android 6.0 unsupported... Possibly some or all of the above? Be nice if I could at least rule out whether or not the radio itself is good to go with AA. Thanks!
