Apple has good unfinished ideas IMHO. And then other people make them better.
Now, I will say this (As I did to someone the other day). If you cut Apples product cost down 65%. I would reccomend and apple to everyone I know who isn't inclined to use technology on a higher level. Seriously. the hell I wanna spend $1,000 on a 13 inch screen with hardware specs that equate to a 200 dollar netbook?

O, and Apple has captured this large cult like group of majority. So if apple adopts something it will always do well. Like NFC.
