Google play store user reviews

Is it true that one can't leave a review of an app on the app's page in the Google Play Store UNLESS you join Google Plus???

I don't have a Google+ account and I've never had a problem leaving a review. It does take up to a day I think for the review to show up in the lists, though.

You do need to have a regular google account to do so.

Just tried to put in a review on an app and got the message pop up saying I would have to create a Google + to do so. Really a bad move in my opinion because it prevents people like me from posting useful reviews.

I'm starting to hate having so many social networks. I mean really, is there any reason to follow someone on every stinking network? I've just got Facebook and do everything there. Anything else would just be redundant.

Well since they started to ask users to use an G+ account for leaving feedback I just stopped to use this function.
Too bad, I don't have/use G+.
It's nice to see users avatars, but Google should NOT force users to join G+

yeah when i leave a review, it calls me "a google user" or something and i think my friends on G+ see it?
it used to call me "Smity" (my google name is Smity Smith)
google is becoming a bit insular and i cant decide if i like it or not......
