Reading in the 70's
I used to read more fiction than I do today, and back in the 70's I was in the military, so my interests were drawn to a series of books, and I recall reading many of them, but I can't remember the name of the books, or the characters. In fact there were two different action/adventure series available where I bought my books, and I read several from each series.
Does anyone with better recollection, or better search capabilities remember the names of the series... They both were basically vigilante based, and the one I recall liking more had the main character going around and resolving issues in various, often violent, ways and he was guided by an older oriental man that he consulted with at least once in each book and he usually urged the main character toward restraint.
Because I enjoy different things now than I did then, I don't think I would be drawn to the same books, but it is bugging me that I spent so many hours reading a series of books, and can't even remember the names...
Any ideas?
And, just to possibly urge more messages... any recollections of reading back in the 70's would be interesting. What did you used to read in the days before the internet, or really ancient, even before BBS systems?
Any other old farts here?
