I've been told that we are entering the era of wearable devices, and smartwatch is one of them. But then what makes a smartwatch smart? I'm sure the term smartphone is relatively different, it gives us a lot of other functions to our phones rather than just making a phone call and sending text messages. But a watch, most of us don't use it to tell time, there is an aesthetic value in wearing a watch, much more like wearing a necklace or bracelet (I wouldn't include rings because a ring can be an indicator to your marriage status). And as for aesthetic values, I have to say most smartwatches don't have them, but that's not what I'm here for.
I am here to ask for a suggestion to purchase a smartwatch that fits my needs, and my needs aren't much:
1. If I have a watch that is smart, I want it to be able to manage my schedule based on Google Calendar in my Nexus 5. I'm sure this is possible via Google Calendar's notification which then will be streamed to the smartwatch via Bluetooth. And I imagine it would be very nice that when the notification comes, the smartwatch would vibrate so I can be reminded. Is this possible?
2. Has an adaptive auto-brightness, which I consider to be the main weakness of a regular watch. In a low-light situation, it's practically useless), might as well just pull the phone out of your pocket to tell time.
3. Fully compatible with my Nexus 5. I am not planning to own top Samsung smartphones to use their weird-looking Galaxy Gear.
4. This one's actually just a question for smartwatch users: do you ever complain about your phone's battery life since it's been connected to smartwatch all the time via Bluetooth? Some of you might know the battery life in Nexus 5 isn't great, some days it wouldn't last a day. Is the battery drain significant?
Should you have any recommendations, please kindly list them, because I don't know many smartwatches beside Galaxy Gear. Thanks and have a great day!
