Google Now: Data and Battery Demands?

Hi All,

Just got a Moto G (2013) LTE a couple days ago. Last night I fired-up Google Now. It's... interesting and amusing, but...

Two things concern me: Data and battery demands. Data: I'm on T-Mobile and have 1GB of 4G. Then I get throttled to 2G. If Google Now is constantly nattering to the Google Mothership in order to keep me appraised of Important Stuff, I have to wonder what that's going to do to my data usage. 4G speeds are far more important to me when I know I need to know something, and want to use my web browser, than at any other time. Same for battery. I bought the 2013 "G" because of its exemplary runtime on battery. I'm more interested in having that battery when I need it than in keeping up-to-date something I may not use the entire day.

So, those of you who've used Google Now: What has been your experience with data usage and device runtime with it left running?
