Default Hotspot Login Assistant - possible malware?

I noticed the following popping up when I try accessing the internet on my Sprint Galaxy S3 when I am in a secured network:
    "http://hla2.safemovedm.com/webping-s.html" Webpage not available.
When I do a search for this string in Google, I get references to HotSpot Login Assistant. Norton flags this as 'not tested'.
    Is this malware?
Does anyone know what this is, or, where it comes from?

    thanks!

Are you saying that you have an app called Hotspot Login Assistant installed on your phone? Or just that you get that error anytime you're connected to a secure Wi-Fi network?

If the former, what do the comments in the Google Play Store have to say about it? Have you tried any other security apps to evaluate it?

If the latter, do you have any other network or Internet apps installed?

I'm having the exact same problem. Same message keeps popping up. Once every few minutes. I don't think I've installed anything lately. I don't have a hotspot. It acts like malware, but I'm not sure.

You can long-press on the notification and then select 'App info' and find out what app is causing that.

The same started happening for me yesterday. When I attempt to go to this webpage (Hotspot Login Assistant) on my computer, it says "Hotspot Login Assistant -- This page is used internally by the Hotspot Login Assistant.". I encounter "hotspot login" prompts when I connect to public WIFI hotspots, like a Starbucks. But now this is happening for my own private WIFI at home, and the message comes up "webpage not available" instead, every few minutes. At the the bottom of the screen is a check-box to "Automatically accept T&C's for this hot spot from now on". This is maddening. As a result, my WIFI "turned off" on my phone (but it is up/running, per my home computers).

The same goes for me. I disabled the connections optimizer (settings>n/w connections>more networks>mobile networks), and then manually connected to my home wi-fi. I suppose I will have to repeat when I exit and re-enter my home wi-fi range, but it solved the problem of that intrusive prompt popping up repeatedly as the phone got connected to and disconnected from the wi-fi. Actually those disconnects are technically unwarranted (phone and wi-fi are both fine), but I kinda think that, that webpage's being unavailable (or the URL's being incorrect) may be causing the disconnects. Connections optimizer's fine print states that the wireless carrier is collecting anonymous data re: battery use, etc. when on wi-fi versus when not. So, perhaps, that data collection step is failing because some web response doesn't materialize, and that's reason enough for the disconnect?.. Not very gracious of the connections optimizer, I'd say. Perhaps, a bug?

Addendum: When I re-entered my home wi-fi range after the first exit this morning, It found and connected automatically even though the connections optimizer was disabled. Maybe I don't need that optimizer ever! Is it something for users who hop from one public hot-spot to another a lot? I only use 4G LTE (or 3G whatever Sprint network offers where I am) and secured home wi-fi.

Same issue, i was about to recreate it i use iPcop for a firewall the URLS hla2.safemovedm.com & safemovedm.com we added to my deny list my Samsung 4g sprint phone was accessing this page hundreds of times a day. the URL it was accessing was hla2.safemovedm.com/webping-s.html?unused=1393863911500 with the last set of numbers changing and when i went to the URL it said "Hotspot Login Assistant
This page is used internally by the Hotspot Login Assistant."

Anyone figure out how to stop the Samsung from displaying this?

Those of you getting this message, what carrier are you on. I haven't seen this on Sprint, and I'm wondering if it's a piece of carrier installed software.
PLEASE, when asking for help provide as much information as possible. We can't help unless we know what the symptoms are and what you did before they began.

The carrier is Virgin Mobile. My issue started happening today out of the blue. Called carrier for support but they couldn't resolve. Instead they opened a ticket and will be contacting me in 72 hours. Meanwhile I have to use carrier internet instead of my Wi-Fi because of this issue.
