Watch to phone connection fails after android update

After my note 3 updated last week I notice that my gear live doesn't connect properly to my phone.
The watch states that there is a proper connection however the Android Wear app on my note keeps saying "connecting to watch" but it never changes to connected.
When I disable and enable Bluetooth, I do get the latest notifications on my watch but that's it. No new notifications.

I tried resetting my watch and now it won't even connect... When I pair my watch with my phone again and it wants to do the initial setup, it keeps saying that there is no internet connections.

Any help would be useful because my watch is useless at the moment...
