An application requires installation of google play services...

I've been playing with a new LG Watch Urbane since last Friday.

Several times now I have received a notification on the watch which says, "An application requires installation of Google Play Services requested by Android Wear." I have no idea why, since I was not in the process of installing anything, for example. If I swipe left-to-right, I see an icon of some sort with the title, "Open on phone" but tapping that doesn't seem to do anything.

Just curious to know what this is all about.

That's normal. The latest Android wear version requires that you update the Play Services. I even downloaded the Android wear app to force that update.
