While Android Central usually loads quickly on my computer the Forums Section always loads slowly. It often takes as much as 30 seconds before I can start to navigate the Forum page.

I'm wondering if the "What's Happening Now" listing is causing the problem? The "What's Happening Now" section lists all of the User Names of the members who are currently using the Android Central Forums - this is often several thousand User Names that have to be loaded each time someone visits the Forum page.

I tried to minimize the "What's Happening Now" section but the setting reverts to the expanded listing the next time I visit the Forum.

Maybe the AC Staff can change the setting for "What's Happening Now" so the User Names only show if a member expands that section. It would be interesting to see if that change made the Forum page load faster.

I'm not trying to be critical - just passing along a suggestion.

Thanks for the feedback. We are constantly working on ways to optimize performance and improve the user experience. The collapse button for the WOL is something I will look at adding - although to be honest with you, it should have negligible impact on page load times.

Maybe you're right but I know the slowest page I load at Android Central is the main forum page and when I scroll down to the bottom of the page I see that there are often 4,000+ User Names that have to be loaded before I can navigate the page.

The other forum pages load with normal speed.

If you're looking for a new idea, check out the Live Map that they use at Greenhulk.net. The Live Map shows a world map with pin-points to show the location of all of the people who are currently using the site. Here's a link to Greenhulk's Live Map -

What is going on with the forums section? It loads really slow or not at all. Are tweaks/updates being implemented or is something wrong?

Painfully slow for me as well on my desktop. Tapatalk works great. Could be something to do with the ad servers.

Yea, honestly, with such a small amount of data, I don't see how this could make the page run slow.

What a strange website to DDoS. I don't see any point in that. Maybe some jealous Apple users?
