Default Opening Thread at First New Post (2)

My first post appears to be unreadable (a server issue) so here goes again...

I'm probably missing something obvious but I've looked everywhere in the threads line on the forum page as well as my options, there must surely be a way to go to the first unread post rather than the first post. Thanks for any info, Dennis

Normally, I just go straight to the last page, but going to the first unread reply would be a welcome feature.

There's a blue arrow to the left of the thread title. If you click it, it will take you to the first unread post.

I dunno if you're using the app or the computer, but I'm using the Tapatalk app and can select to jump to the first unread post:

I'm thinking they are looking for a way to open the thread and have it land on the last post, not open the thread, then have to click something else, that's how I read it anyway.

This is a work around, but, it accomplishes what you are looking for (if I understand correctly, that is). Open up your User CP. Go to Edit Options on the left hand side. Scroll down to Thread Display Options. Under Thread Display Mode, switch to Linear - Newest First. This reverses the order of the way the posts are displayed, but, when you open a thread, the newest post would be at the very top.

Thank you that does seem to do exactly what I want. Please tell me they are new and they weren't there before :-)

Either way they are not everywhere, for example they are not available in "My Threads".

    Thanks again,
    Dennis

This isn't specifically what you asked for, but since the first answer doesn't work everywhere for you, here is how you can jump to the last post in case you don't know this already.

Look in the column labeled "Last Post." Next to username of the person who last posted, there is another arrow pointing to the right. Click on that and it takes you to the last post. Make sure to click the little arrow and not the username.

So, that will only get you to the first new post if there has only been one new post, but if there are multiple new posts, the end of the thread is still likely to be closer to where you want to go than the beginning of the thread unless it's a really short thread.

Like I said, not exactly what you asked for, but just in case it helps any.

I added them just for you! :-P

They should also be showing up in the "New Threads" search. I'm not sure why you're not seeing them.

Thanks to the rest of you who chimed in with some great suggestions as well.

Wow Cory. The speed with which you implement suggestions is astounding. Thank you very much.

Is it possible to add the little blue "first new post" arrow to the "My posts" and "My threads" sections. That's always the first place I go when I log in, to see threads that i've participated in.

    One again ... you rock.
