Paragraph breaks in posts
So, I don't know if I'm missing something simple here, but I'm having this problem that when I write posts on this forum from my PC, pressing enter does not insert a line break. It will look properly formatted when I'm writing it, but after it posts, it will be all one long paragraph. I have to manually inter the html line break code to get paragraphs or line breaks. When I post here from my phone, however, hitting enter in the posts works to format the post correctly. I'm using Firefox on my Windows 7 PC.

I can't reproduce and nobody else has reported this.

Re: Paragraph breaks in posts
Have you tried writing something in Notepad that has line breaks, then copy and pasting it into a post, then hit Preview, to see if it registers the line breaks?

Re: Paragraph breaks in posts
Hmm. Do you participate in Forums on any other Sites? Just curious if you only experience this at AC. If you have the problem else where, at least we'd know that the culprit isn't on ACs end.
Also, have you tried posting using IE instead of FF? - 08-14-2012, 03:12 PM

Re: Paragraph breaks in posts
I currently post in probably 15 or so other forums with no problem and have posted in many more than that in the past. That's why I asked the question, since this is the only forum I experience this problem. I've experienced this since my first post in this forum and have never experienced it in any other forum.
I just posted this in IE to test it. And it looks from the Preview that the line breaks work, but I will not use IE for a variety of reasons. - 08-14-2012, 03:16 PM #7
Re: Paragraph breaks in posts
Hmm, well, at least we know there is some quirk regarding FF and AC. I can't imagine what it could be, but, that narrows down the problem a bit.
Yea, I don't blame you. I only use FF as well. But, I don't experience the issue you are having. - 08-14-2012, 03:29 PM

Re: Paragraph breaks in posts
Ah, I just fixed it. I went into options and turned off the WYSIWYG editor and switched to Standard. I tried that before, wondering if it was the problem, but the forum timed out right after I did it and I guess it didn't stick the first time or reverted.
I just went back to options to try the Basic editor and saw it was back on WYSIWYG. I use WYSIWYG editor on other forums and always set that when it's an option and don't have the problem. But I don't mind using Standard. So I'm fine now. - 08-14-2012, 05:03 PM #9
Yea. I figured it was a setting in FF. Thanks for coming back to post your solution!!

Re: Paragraph breaks in posts
I can reproduce the problem in FF 14.0.1 on either a Mac (gasp) or a PC. I'm not sure what the issue is, especially if nobody else is having it. The only thing I could suggest is disabling any Add-Ons you might have and see if the problem still exists. Also, if you have any particular zoom settings, or are forcing a specific font style, either could also be problematic.

Re: Paragraph breaks in posts
Ok, don't worry about it. I'm ok using the standard editor. I'd rather do that than get rid of any add-ons. Thanks.

Re: Paragraph breaks in posts
Thanks! And the word can should have been can't in the first sentence. Of all the words to misspell...
