    Default AndroidCentral on Google Chrome

With such a high load that this site drives upon visiting, and loading pages after pages.. I'm wondering if there is any tips or tricks, even some configuration tweaking I can do to speed up this process. Really, sites like AndroidCentral and other heavy duty sites are the only reason I'm still using FireFox over Google Chrome.

It feels like it takes forever to load AndroidCentral and sites alike because of how much is really going on during the page load. Even my Google Chrome seems to crash for a few seconds while loading AndroidCentral. Any help in the right step would be much appreciated.

I'm using Chrome. AC loads in less than a second.

AC loads in seconds? It loads in seconds for me as well, but I can't scroll and half the time it will freeze my Google Chrome 'cause of all the images loading and everything like that. I would say, that the full page load takes about 2 minutes for me to where it's operational enough to actually use.

    EDIT:

I just reinstalled Google Chrome, to give it a bit of a test run. I actually, went straight to AndroidCentral and it's so bad, that the site isn't even operational. It times out during it's load, and then just stops working and either stops responding, or I click to exit the tab and it finally just closes the tab. So there has to be something, I can do to fix this.

Also this I believe goes on for other heavy duty sites, and most of the sites on this network.. like WPCentral, and all them.. have the same effect. Just really heavy sites like these, seem to cause Google Chrome to be a twit... But on other browsers like FireFox, they load perfectly fine with no hassle.

I'm sorry I can't really help other than to say that the problem seems to be specific to your machine. I use chrome on several different computers and several different operating systems and this site loads fast and renders correctly immediately on all of them.

Weird, because Google Chrome is the only browser that gives me this issue. So I'm not so sure that it is machine specific, but if it is then I guess I'll just continue to use FireFox. I hate having to use 2 browsers. X.x

EDIT: So, I went in and messed around with my extensions and now that I've removed Web of Trust, I think that was one of the big issues. AndroidCentral is so link heavy, that I think WOT on Chrome just explodes.. but I'm not quite clear. After removing quite a bit of other extensions, it takes a bit for AC to load, but it actually becomes operational now.. So it's a step in the right direction.

Yeah, I just think with all my extensions running and everything it was just to clogged up handling such a site.. or 3.2GB of usable RAM, just isn't cutting it.

1 extension: NotScript. Blocks all the ads & scripting until you enable them. Talk about fast page loads.

Seems I'm a little late to this , but I've never had any issues with AC and Chrome. Like you said, it's probably a lot of extensions overloading your system.

I actually had the opposite problem. Firefox became ridiculously slow, so I made the switch to Chrome, and haven't had any more problems.

Yeah, I've never had any issue with firefox's loading times... Especially when I went into the about:config and messed around with the pipe-lining, and all of that so sites were basically instantly loading. When I switched to Google Chrome, heavy sites like AC would sometimes freeze or idle and not be functional for sometime. Now that I have NotScript, AC is loading in seconds and becoming instantly functional. So, it's a one up in the direction I wanted.

On the forums side I've modified the social networking icons - which are Javascript based - so that they load after the rest of the page has loaded.

In terms of ads - we do have the banner at the top of the screen - but in comparison to other forums we do not insert ads inside or between posts nor on either side of the screen if you are logged in.

We've also done a lot of things recently to optimize performance in terms of bandwidth and other aspects of the forums.

Trust me - I'm always looking at ways to improve the user experience whether in terms of usability, performance, or otherwise.

Hopefully you'll see this on your end as well!

I've had loading issues too using GC.

I can't scroll right away. I have to wait for the page to completely load before I can even scroll or click on anything.
