Android update space bar

Hi

I have a question about the space bar on the 3×4 keyboard. Before the most recent update, pressing it didn't actually put a space in the middle of a word, but rather made it possible to type another letter from the same tile faster. After the update, it does put a space, which is really annoying considering you either have to type real slow or delete the space every time. Is there a way to make the space bar like it was before the update? Without affecting the rest of the update if indeed possible
