AC Question

Hi all,

Recently I receive on my android (kitkat) the following popup message with an ok button:
:)

Then, I receive this one:

:)
----------------------
:)

Is this a virus or have I been hacked?

Thanks a lot for your comments and support, thus this is very very annoying.

Greetings!

Welcome to Android Central! Do these popups only occur when you're using a browser? If so, they're probably popups associated with a certain website. Just don't click on any links in the box.

Wow! I have the same phone; the first time I received this message, was after updating the phone to the 4.4.3 Kit Kat version; I thought it was a final message of the update; nevertheless, it keeps appearing since then.

Now I think there is something behind this update.......

Thanks for your response Alberto.

Cheers!

Same annoying issue here. Nexus 5, carrier Telcel. Started showing on right after 4.4.3 update. I restored factory settings then updated to 4.4.4. The pop up keeps showing.

Basic apps installed too.

I have the same phone and same carrier and I am also receiving that annoying smiley pop-up. I hope someone will find a solution for the problem soon. Update*: I actually replaced my phone to another nexus 5 (16gb black) yet the problem continued to appear after the 4.4.3 update onward to the 4.4.4 update. I hope the problem will disappear in Android L

Has anyone be able to find a source for this problem?

I have the same phone Nexus 5, with Telcel and running Lollipop, and started getting the messages...

My wife has also a Nexus 5 with Lollipop and Telcel and she is not having the problem. It has to be some virus...
