Note 10.1 Hacked right out of the box?
Hi folks. Here is my situation...
Brand new Note10.1 2014 edition, 1st day of operation. Has 3G sim transferred from old samsung mobile that I've been using fro a while without issue.
I tried to access my email through a webmail portal on my own hosting account.
The login fails because "my ip address changed" during the login procedure. The ip address on my 3G sim is known, and doesn't change all that often.
I contacted my hosting provider who checked the server logs for me and found my webmail login attempt had come from an unknown ip address. I later checked whois data on the ip address which traced it to a telco in Turkey (I'm in Australia).
So, how the heck did my webmail login credentials find themselves in Istambul when entered on a brand new almost completely factory standard device in Australia, unless the basic OS had been compromised before sale?
I know android and probably touchwiz are virtually spyware anyway. Tracking web visits is one thing, but redirecting (and presumably logging) password details without specific authority surely is illegal isnt it? Surely Samsung or Google wouldnt be doing such a thing, but their device appears to be.
Is this known, and I'm just in the dark about it, or has someone gone wrong here?
