modifying widget look and feel
I'm new to android: just rooted and loaded cyanogenmod on a Nexus 7. The thing I'm most excited for are widgets. On my home screen I placed a Jorte calendar widget, gmail inbox, yahoo weather, and a CBS sports feed. Now I want to style the widgets to match each other for look and feel and also to modify the widget sizes.
Is this a good place to start exploring android? Where to go for more information? Should I just get a launcher like Nova to do the styling for me?

Re: modifying widget look and feel
Nova is a great launcher. Plenty of customizations especially if you buy the pro version for gestures and other extras. Biggest plus is the Nova devs constantly stay on top with updates.
