Im running windows 8 and my nexus 7 (2013) wont connect as a media device. It connects as a camera, but i want to transfer music and movies to it. Ive tried different cables, but it doesnt work.
Welcome to Android Central! What do you mean it connects as a camera? Do you mean it only allows you to transfer photos?
When you connect it up with the computer, swipe down the notification shade and tap the USB connection notification. Make sure it's set to MTP, not PTP. You can also find this setting in Settings>Storage, and then tap the menu button, then USB Computer Connection.
When I set it to PTP, it connects, but only lets me connect as a camera and transfer pictures. When it is set to MTP it is not on My Computer, and it doesn't pop up the notification window saying that Nexus 7 has been connected. Im running Windows 8.1
I've seen this issue pop up from time to time in the forums, but I'm not sure what the best solution is. You've tried rebooting your computer, and then trying the connection again, right? And you're using the original USB cable that came with your Nexus 7?
