I did the most foolish thing possible ... key in a password and forgot it soon after.

Now, I have the FASTBOOT option enabled, so am not able to factory reset / hard reset the phone as per the HTC manual.

The HTC Sync Manager on my Mac is equally useless.

I have keyed in wrong passwords over a 100 times, but the phone wont reset by itself.

    Am stuck, need some help.

You should have an option to log in with your Google account.

No, the option just doesn't appear in the password option.

That is odd. Take a look at this page. Scroll down to number five.

That option is only there for people who lock with the Draw pattern. For people who use the alpha numeric password lock, the option doesn't appear.

I didn't know that. I haven't had this problem myself.

I will have to do some more research! You may want to give HTC a call, just to see if they have any suggestions.

I managed to solve the issue. When i was switching off the phone and switching on or doing a restart , wasn't able to enter the boot menu using the Power down key ... but , the last option when we press the Power key ... close all apps and reboot ..... that's equivalent to a slow boot .... keeping the Power down key helped to enter the Boot menu ... and I hit the factory reset ... everything loading back now ... just a shout out to everyone ... DISABLE THE FAST BOOT OPTION ... it creates more issues than it's worth.

Thanks, you saved my life. Since I had fast book enabled, I had to use your tweak
    Heres how I did it:
Press and hold the volume UP button and then press and hold the POWER button. Once the phone switches off, immediately press the volume DOWN button and press the POWER button. This will bring up the bootstrap screen.
