Why won't my UNLOCKED AT&T galaxy s4 activate to verizon wirless

Hi I just bought a brand new verizon 4g SIM card for my galaxy s4 that I also just unlocked a few days ago. And I don't know how to activate it.I called verizon and they said you can't unlock it but i know you can because on YouTube I see people unlocking it and switching it it other carriers. So if someone could give me instructions or something to help me activate my phone that would be lovely. Thank you.

Re: Why won't my UNLOCKED AT&T galaxy s4 activate to verizon wirless

Welcome to Android Central, and sorry for the wait! Since Verizon uses a different cell network (CDMA) than AT&T (GSM), a phone made for AT&T usually can't be used on Verizon. A Sprint phone might work on Verizon, because Sprint uses CDMA. You AT&T phone could work on T-Mobile, since they also use GSM.

Currently Verizon will not activate a phone whose imei isn't in their database. So you cannot use an att or tmobile phone or other gsm phone on Verizon. Even though Sprint uses cdma, Verizon still will not activate it on their network, for the aforementioned reason.
