Email on Android 4.4.2 not working

I read on other threads that since the upgrade everyone's been having problems with email...I follow all the steps given in those threads, but none are working. I really need my email on my phone since my job depends on it. I can set my email up, but i can't receive any emails. Please help

Excuse me if I have misunderstood, but would signing in afresh to your email account(s) help?

Log out of the emails and log back in. Also, what email app are you using and what accounts are you trying to use (Hotmail, yahoo, etc)?
