Default HTC One (M7) wifi connection issues after root

kitkat 4.4.2, sense 6.0, installed clockworkmod recovery v6.0.4.6 yesterday. First attempt at rooting a device. No intent to flash custom ROM, just wanted to give Tasker superuser access.

Everything is working fine except wifi. It won't connect to my home network, even though computers/other phones/xbox are working fine. Most of the time, I just have an error notification "Unable to connect to wifi network" and in wifi settings it's stuck on "obtaining IP address."

When it fails, I get an error message saying "unable to connect due to an incorrect password or network issues. Would you like to try again?" I have successfully connected 2-3 times, but it drops the connection in less than an hour and I have to try the password a dozen times or so to get the connection back (with the same result).

    Thanks!
