My GS2 is starting to give up on me (major screen glitch that could render the phone useless depending on what you want to do.-in short: the bottom half of the screen blacks out or just shows multi colour pixilation, it happens now and then but its soon time to move on)

anyway, im looking for the cheapest Android I can find (brand new) to replace it.

Currently viewing the Huawei Y220. (Price feels far too good to be true @ $40 for a dual core with 21mbps HSDPA/3G- so im very cautious as to what exactly am I buying eg: will it last a week or many many years before im forced to replace it? ) anyone have any hands on experience with this device?

Im hoping NOT to spend over $50

Any suggestions for NEW ANDROID phones close to (little bit higher) or below this price range? I want to put all my eggs in one basket before I buy even if that includes an extra $10 if need be but the less I spend, the better.

I couldn't care less for performance, speed, excellent experience, build quality (solidness-not durability) or "feel" of the device or even if the OS is older than my Grand Mother who was born 1925, I don't care, I just want a device to make/send/receive what's app messages, smses and do so reliably with excellent overall life span (meaning that I can use the device for years and years as opposed to it braking down in the first month) I will not use any resource intensive applications, the most resource intensive app I would use is probably whats app or Google Chrome, so fast processor's and high RAM/ROM shouldn't be of much importance to me. Unless its so weak that I spend 10 hours waiting for what's app to open (then its an issue but I find this very unlikely)

Thanks in advance for any information, opinion or advice you give :)

Hey there! That's a tough price point, but here are just a couple of suggestions:

HTC Explorer $109.99: http://www.amazon.com/HTC-Explorer-...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU3753000

Samsung Galaxy Fame $79.99: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Smart...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU3753000

Sony Xperia E $102.99: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Unlocked...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU3753000

Lg Optimus L3 $79.99: http://www.amazon.com/LG-E400-Unloc...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU3753000

Other than the phone you mentioned, that is all I could find from NAME brands.

You can try searching stores for unbranded phones, but their quality can not be guaranteed.

Do you have a certain time frame you need the phone by? If not, I would suggest waiting and saving up for a Motorola G which is a tremendous phone for its price.

Ah yes the Samsung galaxy fame, currently selling at $170 In my country (South Africa) but you reminded me of the galaxy pocket at about $50-$60 thanks.

Say can you find a review for the Huawei Y220, I googled but couldn't find anything.
