Poor Battery Life on Nexus 4 with A Franco Kernel

I recently installed the franco kernel on my nexus 4 in hopes to get some really good battery life but that has not been the case. My battery drains even when I'm not using my phone and in all I get around 2-2.5 hours of screen on time and only about 7-8 hours of battery life in all. Ive only had about three or four cycles of charging with the kernel so I'm wondering if it takes time for the kernel to kick in.
