Why am I going through my data so quickly?

Blowing through Verizon data

For some reason I am blowing through my data package with Verizon and can't figure out why. I don't use the phone any more than I normally do and I am already up to 10gb of data. I have a Note 3. I've called verzion and they say it's becuase I have a new and technologically advanced phone so it may use data even when I am not using the phone. This makes no sense to me. They said I can shut numerous things off that might help but what's the point of having a newer phone if I have to shut half the stuff off. Can someone please advise?
Thank you!

Re: Blowing through Verizon data

In what period of time did you use the 10 gb? What applications are you running? The response from Verizon is bogus. Yes you can shut some things down but it's really only a minimum impact. To be honest I have a 10 Gb plan but rarely use above 4 Gb in any month and I am a very user, although most of my use us over WiFi.

Re: Blowing through Verizon data

Check your data usage under settings. It will show what is using data on your phone.
