Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Unlock Screen frozen

My daughters tab 3 is 6 months old. When I turn it on I get the full start up to the swipe to unlock screen but it won't unlock. I can hold power and restart but the same thing. Started it and went to android part of start up. Cleared the cache and it is still the same. Took out of case just to make sure that isn't the problem. Is there anything I can do without a factory reset? Thanks

Is the screen registering any touches at all? The digitizer might have failed. Contact Samsung if still under warranty, or bring it to a repair shop.
