Notifications and ringtones are switched

[AC Question]

I have the Samsung Discover, and my ringtones and notifications are switched. This means that I'm stuck having a 5 second long notification when a friend texts, etc. I now have a 1 second long 'ringtone' for when a friend calls. My carrier is Cricket, and a while ago I changed a friend's ringtone to a song, I'm not sure if that would change anything.... after that, it switched. I can't choose a normal notification, because the only ones listed are the sample ringtones. Help!

This is more a workaround, but if you install Zedge, free on Play, that should give you the option to use ringtone you download through that app instead of system ones.
Been using Zedge since 2011.
