Default Samsung Galaxy Fame can no longer connect to home Wifi

Earlier today I was able to connect to home WIFI as always. I went out, came back, and it isn't connecting. Signal strength is high, but the network is apparently "disconnected", according to my phone, and it cannot get the IP address it is trying to obtain.

The internet is working, as this post has made it online (from my PC, connected through the router), and my gf's WIFI connection on her iPhone is fine.

I've tried a few things. Restarting my phone, turning off my phone for a while then turning it back on, and also getting my phone to "forget" the wifi details, and re-entering it. Still no connection.

    Any suggestions?

Some users with this problem find that it takes multiple soft resets or battery pulls before wifi connection succeeds.

    Original poster here.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Follow up question: How do I do a soft reset?

(Phone battery pulls I can at least do though LOL!)

Sorry. It's normally done by long-pressing the power button till you get the option to power off. Leave a few seconds after powering off, then press power button till phone restarts.
If your battery is removable, removing then replacing does the same thing.

Welcome to Android Central! Also try rebooting your router (unplug its power for 10 seconds, then plug it back in again and wait for the signal to reestablish). Other tips here: [GUIDE] Troubleshooting Wi-Fi Connection Problems
