MotoG not syncing Gmail

[AC Question]

I've upgraded my Moto G to Kitkat 4.4 and now it keeps telling me that there's a problem sync-ing with Gmail and it will be resolved soon. How soon is soon? Last sync was 10 hours ago.

Welcome to Android Central! Is Gmail actually not syncing, or are you in fact receiving emails? I used to get the sync error with my Contacts on my old Razr Maxx, and yet the contacts would all still be synced.

You could try booting into Recovery Mode and wiping the system cache partition--the steps are the same as on the Moto X, I believe: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/94946/p/30,6720,8696

You could also try removing your Google account from your phone at Settings>Account​, then adding it back.
