I got this on my LG G2 last night and was extremely scared at first. It said I was viewing "illegal pornography such as child porn/zoophilia/rape," and another message said I was pirating music, and that I needed to give $300 to the FBI via Green Dot MoneyPak withing 72 hours otherwise I would be arrested and I would stand trial (for numerous things).

Of course, I found 1 flaw in the message. It said I was in Annapolis, MD, when I was in Davidsonville, MD (not far away), so I began to think it was a virus. My phone also kept asking me to turn on location services (GPS), and I felt that was all I needed to go to sleep that night (with my phone off).

This morning, I looked it up, and lo and behold: it's f***ing ransomware! I thought to myself, great, I know what the hell this is, but HOW DO I GET IT OFF???

And that's my question. How do I get it off? I haven't seen it since last night but I'm not convinced that it's off my phone.

And I have to add, if the only flaw you found in that message was the bad location, you really need to brush up on - something...

I think I can say with absolute certainty that the FBI does not let people off the hook for such supposedly serious charges merely because they chose to send $300 via "Green Dot MoneyPak withing 72 hours". :)

Actually it might be worth going to the FBI so they can investigate, if this sort of thing is within their remit. At least report it to Google.

This has long been a known virus on PCs... I'm surprised it is now on Android.

The PC versions locks your computer. Is your phone stuck on the warning screen?

Put some AV on that thing...
