Sony Xperia Z1 4.4.4 'unfortunately email has stopped' message

My Sony Xperia Z1 has been displaying the message 'unfortunately email has stopped' for the past 3 android and Firmware updates.

I have changed email apps and still get the same message. I have cleared
the cache, reset the phone, uninstalled and re-installed the email apps,
trawled through countless forums for answers and still have the same
problem.

I don't know what to do. Does anyone know how I can stop this from happening?

When you say you have changed email apps, do you mean you've installed other email apps from Google Play? The error message sounds like it's referring to the stock Email app. If you don't need it, then go to Settings>Apps>All, select Email, and Disable it. If you use something like the Gmail app and don't rely on Exchange Services, then disable Exchange Services as well.
