Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Battery Issues!!!

So I have had the galaxy tab 2 for a little over a year now. I lost the special wall adapter part that came with it. I bought a 2.1 amp charger and it still doesn't work. When I try to charge it nothing happens. Like most problems like mine, it has the battery icon filling halfway yellow then turning off. Mine didn't do that. Mine literally has no charging icon at all. Just the screen turns on and off three times. Please Help!!! Thanks.
