Tablet Freezes on Boot and requires Factory Reset
Some time ago we bought a budget tablet for our son. It is an Onda V811. It worked well for a while. Then one day it would not go past the boot screen. We did a factory reset, and then it worked ok again. After some days, it was necessary to factory reset it again. Now he needs to factory reset it almost every day. He may install one app, and then next time he tries to turn tablet on, he needs to factory reset and loses whatever he has previously installed.
Does anyone have a clue on how this could be fixed? The tablet itself works well after being factory reset, until it requires the next reset which is now very frequent. These resets are rendering the device useless though...
Re: Tablet Freezes on Boot and requires Factory Reset
Welcome to Android Central! What prompts each factory reset? You say that it works fine for a while after a factory reset--then what happens that requires another reset? Does it crash? Do you get an error message and then it freezes? Does it just shut down on its own?
Problems like this could be due to many different issues. It could be a corrupt SD card, so try removing it (if you have one) and seeing if the system gets more stable. It could be an app you installed that is misbehaving (either due to poor coding or incompatibility with something else on the tablet)--you could try uninstalling apps one by one, and make a note of when the system seems to stabilize.
Unfortunately, the most likely problem is a hardware or firmware flaw, which is more common in these budget off-brand tablets. You could try contacting their support, but another big drawback of these cheap devices is poor or nonexistent support: Onda Tablet PC - Onda Android 4.0 Tablet PC - Buy Cheap Onda Android Tablet PC
