the Selected/Highlighted Text is not visible in KITKAT

I have upgraded my Galaxy Y [2.3.6] to KITKAT 4.4.4, And now I'm facing the below issues :-[

1) The Selected/Highlighted Text is not visible.
2) Battery is getting Discharged very quickly.

Could any body please provide the solution for this.
