Accidentally deleted stock messaging app?

Hi all!

Brand new Android user here. I'm a long time iPhone user and somehow I immediately deleted the stock messaging app. I had been using Hangouts but don't care for it and I would like to use the stock app again. I set it as the default but it won't show up under all apps. When I go to settings->apps it is there, but I can't access the app unless someone texts me first.

Any ideas how to fix this? Any help would be much appreciated!

Have you done a reboot to see if it comes back?

Yeah I restarted and power cycled twice

I fixed it. Had to force quit and clear the cache then power cycle and then it showed up in the app list as hidden
