I just received my samsung galaxy tab 4 10.1 and I am not able to send or receive text messages. I have a business that I need to use the texting and be able to receive them from a basic phone also. I had the Note 8.0 and was using Go SMS pro, but that is not working on this one. From what I have found it is a software issue. I am using AT&T service. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem or knows a fix.

Your device needs to have SMS capabilities in order to send texts to people using cell phones. You can try an app like Hangouts but that will only work for people using MMS. That's probably what your last tablet was using.

So just to be clear, your Tab 4 is the LTE version, with an AT&T SIM card installed?

I have the same quandry. I thought I'd figure it out but hangouts just is not very helpful for setting up texting. I found where to set SMS but that's as far as I got with my Tab 4 sprint. I had an original Galaxy Tab a nd texting was easy and right there as an icon. Are there other apps to try?

I use Google Voice for my messaging. Seems to work fine.
