Water Damage to Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0

A soda spilled while the tablet was in my bag and apparently some soda went inside. The screen turns on for a couple of seconds then goes dark. It keeps flashing on and off. I tried holding the power button, but the flashing doesn't stop. Right now, the tablet is in rice because everyone told me to do that.
What should I do? Do I need to get it repaired? Should I plug in the charger or wait until the power runs out?
Thank you for your help!!

Major bummer.
Water is one thing. You can put it all into a bag of rice and it will absorb the fluid.
With it being a soda, the rice trick will not work because it is sticky and will not be absorbed.
See if there is an independent repair place near you.
CPR (Cell Phone Repair) is a good example.
You may get lucky.
