Nexus 7 won't charge

[AC Question]

HELP!! Does anyone know how I can get my Nexus 7 tablet to charge?? I have plugged it into the wall, I have plugged into my computer. Did the hold the turn on/off button and volume. It died when I was in the hospital and I haven't been able to turn it on since. I'm not sure if it's the connection to the device or what. Any suggestions?? It is a 1st generation Nexus. My warranty expired and it costs more to sent it in, that to purchase a new one. I don't even know how to open the device and check the battery.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! Have you tried pressing and holding the power button for 10-15 seconds? Have you checked out this support page? https://support.google.com/nexus/troubleshooter/3337561?hl=en

If all else fails, you could try opening it up and checking the battery connection following these steps:
