Phone won't update

I rooted my LG Lucid 3 to try and find large files to delete. I unrooted it using universal unroot and in the settings it says that it is still rooted yet if I use a root checker it says I am unrooted. The problem is that I have a new software update from Verizon that I can download but the install then fails and I want to know if it's Verizon's screw up or if it's the fact that it is still rooted.
