Default screen stays black when I pull phone away from face/ear

Since the verizon software update this weekend my phone screen no longer comes back on when I pull the phone away from my ear when making a phone call. Anyone else experiencing this issue or know of a fix?

Welcome to Android Central! What phone do you have? It sounds like a proximity sensor issue. On some phones, the proximity sensor is located in a tiny recessed hole near the earpiece, and debris can sometimes get stuck in there, causing the sensor to think the phone is still up against your ear. Use a can of compressed air to clear this hole out.
