4G LTE Stuck w/ Blank Screen

[AC Question]

While awakening this device from slumber, screen froze all black, with no functioning. Device is fully charged. In fully dark room, screen has a faint "glow", though basically black. Have tried a repeat of shut-down procedure with no effect. Have been basically using this device almost totally as a more convenient form of Kindle e-reader. Is there a workaround or is this a store and/or factory destined problem?
