Can I change the gmail that's set up on my tablet?

I got my Nexus 7 a year and a half ago and set it up with my current gmail address. Now I am switching accounts to have a more professional account name. I want to put this new account as the sole one used on my tablet, so I get notified when I receive emails on it and I will be deleting my old gmail once this is accomplished. How can I switch the gmail accounts on my tablet?

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Accounts, and add your new account there. I wouldn't necessarily remove your old account, though, because if you do, I think any app you installed via Google Play on that account will be removed. In the Gmail app, you can always choose which account's emails you want to show.
